Fairy Tale

♦ photography ♦ artist’s book ♦ exhibition opening ♦

The search for new means of expression during a semester study in Bratislava, focused mainly on photography, has ended with a photo shoot that seems to introduce a new idea. The inspration came from growing potatoes in jars full of water… and waiting for a perfect midday sunshine during winter, and bodypainting, and glitter. Previous photo sessions explored the idea of identity, visual dramaturgy, individuality. With introduction of sprouting potatoes, which looked like living rocks, we started a fairy tale. Perhaps it will lead to more serious research in land art, permaculture, ecofeminism… tied with the poetry of Sappho? Not yet. For now, it’s only a fairy tale.

Photography and artist’s book exhibition of an art project created during the Erasmus+ semester at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (AFAD) in Bratislava, supported by Foundation of International Education. The “sixth book inspired by Sappho” is a part of a three years long project meant to create nine artist’s books inspired by poetry and the persona of the ancient poetess Sappho. The 9 Books are author’s PhD theme at The E.Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław, Poland.

Exhibition will be open during March 2017, at Kafe Scherz.
